March is it...

Ok so i just got home from band practice -- good as fun i tells ah --
Teachin at Whitireia is goin good as ... just gettin use to my students -- they're a choice lot ... all enthusiastic bout this music game ... its good to see.
I played The Aucks Festival at the Aotea Centre, The Welly Jazz Fest at Civic Square and the Newtown Fair on the weekend -- all were ok ... but wasn't real happy bout Newtown fest -- was just one of them gigs i guess aye.
Anyways ... my new single Breaking down is coming together -- can't wait to get it out... and the next Nok track is ready to be mixed and released...yay!!!....
i gotta tonne of shows comin up as well ... just tryna keep up with everything -- i think i need a diary or a wall planner or somethin...hehe im even doin a wedding this weekend ...thats gonna be hardcase as ....aint done one of those in years ....

Orientation Stylez

Well all is good here in Welly -- i been busy gigging a lot ... Cuba st carnival was awesome last week and i had a mean jam at Havana the same night... im diggin playin at Havana -- if your not familiar with Havana its on Wigan st which is a little side st off Able Smith st ... played there last nite as well and it was mean. Anyways i played the Unitech Orientation yesterday and it was MEAN!... was awesome to catch up with Cuzzie Leon and the Katchafire boys and the Kora bro's and Hollie and band.
It was a beautiful day and big up's to Unitech for providing the best backstage lounge and rider ive seen in years -- what you know bout gourmet kai for the bands and unlimited alchahol etc ... also toomuch the Auckland Blues who were kickin with us as our v.i.p area was joined on to there cubrooms haha... top blokes even though the Hurricanez are gon smoke them.
That was altogether a mean day -- i made plans to head out that nite but was to hammerd and just crashed out ... but im back up in Aucks playin the Auckland Uni Orietation next week thats gonna be fun as...
and i got Auckland Festival at Aotea square on Sat!


So yesterday I played the Wellington Beer festival -- i ha to feel for the organizers ... it was set up to be a HUGE event -- there was so much going on ... Huge stage and all these tents and stalls with food and beer and stuff-- heaps of promo girls ... i hear they were expecting 8000 people ... Well good ol Wellington just pissed down..haha .. from the moment i got there to the moment we left!. Farr -- we almost didnt play cause of the weather... but No play - No pay yah dig. Anyways it wasn't too bad ... we played pretty good and the people who danced in the rain and the mud were awesome!
Wooop!!!!! New Nok stuff is out soon too ... far bout time aye but yeah nah im diggin the new tunes .. so hopefully yal will feel them too ....

The Nok Baye

Ok so this The Nok -- Thats Darren on the left - Chris in the middle and me on the right...this photo was taken just before our set at Rhythm & Vines i think .
This is a band im in ..... and its mean haha ....
nah -- but yeah we recording at the moment and shits is sounding mean as. We do kinda live Hip Hop and Soulish kind joints mixed with a bit of funkish sorta stuff. Im diggin playin and recording at the moment and cant wait to release more Nok joints, we just waitin till we got a little stack of tracks done so we can pick and choose...
Anyways theres ore info at www.myspace.com/nokvillaga including a hard acse video of us at R&V with noone watching haha ... we were on early and it rained and yeah haha ... it was kinda funny.

If you roll to Hope Bros on dixon st on a Thursday nite - say round 10'ish you might catch some nok tunes cause we are all in The Pleasures band that playes there weekly and we throw in a few Nok tunes ... and speaking of The Pleasures...we had the meanest Jam last Thursday -- big ups to Mike Fab and Imon Starr for jamming ... mean as cuzzies!

Man i been neglecting the blog....
So much has been goin on ... not the least Overjoyed is on Select Live so text S130 to 4440 between 4pm and 6pm on weeks days if your feelin it my cuzzies haha...

yeah nah so ive been to Europe and back and done a heap of shows and hung out up the Coast with the whanau for a while which was awesome as. Rhythm and Vines was dope as again .... even though it rained in our Nok set and scared the crowds away we had better weather with The Recloose Live Band and that went off... so toomuch ...
Also got to spend almost 3 weeks with my awesome whanau back in Uawa (Tolaga bay) -- lets just say the partys were outstanding .... and i had a toomuch time with my bro Donald in Gizzy ... and caught up with all the breathaz as we do every year during the summer music festival period....
Was dope to catch Public enemy at R&V ... i missed them back in like 1990 i think it was ... so almost 20 years later and the music and show are just as relevant as ever.
So yeah i been hard out this week finishing off tracks for the new Starblazers project.. We been recording at Trident in Welly and dropped 6 tunes in 5 days ... big ups to the band ... the tracks sound mean ... just Johnno Crayford and Nathan Haines to drop there parts and the EP's done .... but it looks like the EP is turning into an Album .... as they usually do but yeah big ups to the breathaz... Rachel, Isaac, Lisa, Myele, Matt, Lotu and Mike.... good work breathaz...
Recorded a new Nok joint last week too .... yayyy!!!... and probably do anutha one today.... toomuch

i bought some new recording gear so ima start puttin all that to use real soon and get my Raps happening again hah...

Aww yeah and i bouthg a new ride... i sold the ute and got me a Beama -- i just wanted to rock that Euro steez yah feels me hah!
Anyways ... im playin at Cuba Street carnival in a couple weeks and of course im at Hope Bros on Dixon street every Thursday with The Pleasures .... startin at 10pmish ...so see you there.. got heaps of Recloose Live Band and Starblazers shows coming up, but u know me cant remember when haha ... but yeah i'll get the schedule out and chuck the dates up ...

Germany is Cold!

So i just got back from Europe..
Its so good to be home ...i wasn't really feelin Germany. I had mad as jetlag and didn't really adjust to the German way. Its just such a long flight and i haven't been to Europe in a few years so i forgot how far it is to Euro mainland.
3 hours to Sydney then wait a bit and 9ish hours to Bangkok then 12-13 hours to London then 3 hours to Berlin. Dang!
Speaking of Bangkok our plane was one of the last that managed to get away before the protestors took over the airport. When we were about the land the pilot warned us of the protests etc... sheesh im glad we got out cause i'd probably still be there if we hadn't.
It was cool to be in Europe with the band though and the show was cool as.
I always notice that in places like Germany the people are far more reserved than here. It seems like they don't smile much: case in point .. we were on a bus at Heathrow goin to terminal 4 for our Berlin connect and havin a laugh and this German lady sneered at us and stormed to the other end of the bus...
after that i started noticing that us kiwis were always havin a good as time and Germans were standing there lookin at us like we stole something.

Anyways the Overjoyed vids won't be complete until next Thursday ... so it will goto TV the week after that, but the Emotional Funk vid i did with Recloose was finished today and goes to air next week ....


The Pleasures are playing Thursday nites now starting at 8pm at Hope Bro's on Dixon Street ...

Europe Today!!!

First off - congrats to my girl Tua and my bro Vato for kickin ass at their final assessment concert last night...
and thanks to the bro's for playing and holding it down - Cuzzie Rawiri, Raea, Des and David.

It was a mean turn out too - Woop!!!

Well anyways im off to Germany today via Sydney and London to play a few shows with the Recloose Live Band( we changing the name when we get back- any ideas?) The line up is dope and our practice last week was mean ... so bring on Berlin.

The Overjoyed video is edited and should be ready to goto TV next week and rememebr to call Flava, NiuFM, Maifm and every other station to request it!!!



Also big ups to the kiwi'!!! what a night aye ... tghen the All Blacks too but dang ---- World Champs....
My older brother played rep footy with Steven Kearney for years and i remember watchin him play as a young fulla --- to a champion payer and now a World Champion Coach!!!
